BT wanted to raise awareness of its cybersecurity portfolio by helping customers feel safer online. The idea: an ID Checker that lets people see if their data has appeared in data breaches and learn how to protect themselves.

I led the UX discovery and early MVP design, aligning product, engineering, and content teams through user-story mapping workshops and rapid hypothesis testing. Drawing from user interviews and competitor analysis, we identified a clear need for simplicity, trust, and education — shaping an experience that explained complex security issues in plain language.

Through iterative prototyping and usability testing, we validated key assumptions around trust, comprehension, and task flow. Within weeks, we launched an MVP that improved users’ sense of security awareness by +70% and achieved 84% task-completion satisfaction, proving the concept’s value and informing future iterations ahead of BT’s replatforming.
